Hello and welcome to the Medical Medium Blog articles: Radio Shows. I'm so happy to have you here. Visit this blog anytime for inspiration and valuable insights on foods that will help you to heal and feel your best. Happy reading!
There are a lot of types of fasts being promoted right now, like water fasting, dry fasting, juice fasting, intermittent fasting and more. But with so many different beliefs and theories being promoted, there’s also a lot of confusion.
When fasting is done right, it can be a very helpful healing tool, but so often the way it’s done prevents true healing. So I want to offer some guidance and make sure you understand the safest way to fast for your constitution and circumstances.
Before we move into the details of different fasts, it’s important to understand how your body—and especially your liver—works. Read Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease for advanced healing information that explains the liver’s role in detoxification and health in far more detail than an article can. The book is an important foundation for anyone looking to cleanse, fast or invest in their health.
What Fasting Means For Your Liver
Your liver is an intelligent and powerful organ. It has a critical job of processing and disarming the many toxins we inherit and encounter in our modern world: toxic heavy metals, undiscovered strains of viruses and bacteria, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals, solvents, plastics, pesticides, everyday household chemicals and more.
Your liver works to capture those toxins and hold onto them in order to keep them from floating around in your bloodstream and harming your heart, brain, central nervous system and other organs. When the circumstances are right and your liver is able to detoxify, it releases these toxins so they can be eliminated ideally through your urine and bowel movements.
In Liver Rescue I talk about how the liver doesn’t like to be pushed. It’s like a child standing on the diving board for the first time working up the courage to jump when she’s ready. If someone sneaks up and suddenly pushes that child from behind, trust is broken. And, she’s going to be more wary about getting back up on that board to jump again.
The same thing happens to your liver if it’s pushed into detoxifying through an unsafe or harsh fast. An inappropriate fast forces your liver to release too many toxins at once. When the toxins flood the bloodstream, the kidneys and bowel can still only eliminate a small portion at a time. The rest floats around in the bloodstream.
This sudden barrage of poison in the bloodstream causes two kinds of problems. First, the toxins can wreak havoc on your pancreas, spleen, nervous system, brain and heart. Second, the spillover puts your liver in a state of alarm, so the organ works on overdrive trying to gather up and seal in the toxins once more. It’s exhausting to your liver, which makes it harder for it to heal later and potentially more reluctant to release toxins in the future. After all, like the child who was pushed off the diving board and now fears jumping off, the liver that was pushed might hold tighter to the toxins in the future (which means the liver itself becomes increasingly toxic).
When Not to Fast
One important thing to know about fasting is that doing it right takes preparation. If your liver is really toxic, it’s not the time to do a fast. If you’ve been eating a standard American diet, a lot of animal products, or a high fat, high protein diet, or if you haven’t been eating many fruits and vegetables, it’s not a good idea to do a fast. Even if you’ve been eating a clean diet for a long time but you’ve inherited poisons or been exposed to a lot of chemicals or pathogens, it’s also best to not jump into a fast right away.
Fasting should also be avoided by people who have a weaker or sensitive constitution, which is the result of an overload of pathogens and toxins in the body (see Liver Rescue for more information), and by people who have nervous system problems, adrenal issues or a heart that isn’t that strong.
In all of these cases, instead of doing something intense like a fast, you’re much better off making continual, gradual changes. This way, your liver can safely and continually flush out toxins. With time, you’ll clean things up to the point where you’re ready to consider a fast.
Where to Begin for Safe Cleansing
A great place to start is by drinking lemon water upon waking and then 30 minutes later drinking 16 ounces of straight celery juice. Start avoiding the foods that feed pathogens, including gluten, dairy, eggs, soy, corn and canola oil. It’s also important to avoid pork. Anyone who wants to cleanse and heal can help their body by lowering their fat intake, whether it comes from healthy or unhealthy sources (although the unhealthy sources are best to reduce or eliminate first.) The lower your fat intake, the easier your liver can detoxify and heal and the more prepared you will be to do a smartly designed fast when the time comes.
If you don’t think you eat much fat, consider how much protein you consume. Protein-rich foods such as eggs, beef, chicken, soy products, nuts, and others are inherently high in fat also. Continually eat better and better, so your liver can adapt to the changes over time.
After you’ve cleaned up your diet with these suggestions, then you’ll be at a point where you can consider the 28-day cleanse I describe in my book Medical Medium, or the 90-day cleanse in Thyroid Healing, or the Liver 3:6:9 Cleanse from Liver Rescue. All of these cleanses are designed to work perfectly in harmony with the body’s needs, not to push the liver in an unproductive and harmful way like most cleanses and diets out there, and are based on plenty of delicious foods to still give your body the nourishment it needs to heal.
At some point, your body will be cleared out enough and nutritionally fortified enough that you can try a fast. For some people, it may even take a year or two of drinking celery juice and following my food guidance or cleanses to get to the point where you’re ready. At that time, here’s what you need to know:
Water fasting is what it sounds like—it means you ingest water only, and no food. Short term water fasting is a helpful tool for some people in some circumstances. But it is definitely not for people who haven’t gotten to a point where their bodies are already pretty well cleaned out and who have healthy levels of nutrients in their bodies.
At that point, if you want to water fast, it should typically only be done for one to two days. It’s critical you stay well hydrated and drink plenty of water during that time. It’s also really important to stay home, get lots of rest and take it easy during a water fast. Weekends are a good time to try it. Driving around or doing physical work is not safe. When you’re water fasting, you can suddenly get a dizzy spell, experience a big blood sugar drop or feel weak.
The other thing to know is that people can easily become addicted to water fasting. Once they go two or three days, sometimes they don’t want to stop. They want to do four days and then five and it can become hard to break the addiction. On a water fast, people can sometimes experience moments of clarity and euphoria because of the adrenaline that’s released during water fasting so they want to keep going. Be careful. It’s better to do water fasts periodically—even once a month if you wish—but only for a couple days versus doing a longer water fast.
Unfortunately, a lot of people try a water fast because they’re sick. They’ve often been sick for a while, are nutritionally deficient as a result and have viruses in their system (learn more about the many undiscovered strains of viruses that cause hundreds of different illnesses and symptoms, including autoimmune conditions, in Thyroid Healing and Medical Medium).
Under these conditions (or for people who try to water fast too long), the fast weakens the immune system. That allows the viruses that made people sick in the first place to proliferate, so people end up getting sicker as a result. Many people who fast, including fasting experts, don’t understand what’s really happening, and they mistakenly attribute the illness surge as a sign of detoxification.
People who have neurological problems should definitely stay away from water fasts. It’s too hard on the central nervous system and can weaken it greatly. That means water fasting is not for you if you experience issues like anxiety, depression, headaches, migraines, chronic fatigue, restless legs syndrome, fibromyalgia, back pain, ringing in the ears, tremors, twitches, bad nerve pain or burning sensations. People who have neurological issues also typically take longer, maybe a couple of weeks, to recover from a water fast.
If you’re interested in water fasting, I recommend reading Liver Rescue before you get started. It’ll give you a great background on what’s happening in your body and what you need to do to cleanse and prepare your body so you can fast safely when the time is right.
Here’s what you need to know about dry fasting: Never do it. Ever. Dry fasting is when you don’t eat or drink anything, not even water. This is traumatizing and harmful to your body and brain. It fills your bloodstream with so many poisons you can nearly go into sepsis. The toxins spill out of the liver but they don’t get flushed out of the body. Dry fasting is incredibly destructive for your liver, kidneys, nervous system and brain—it actually kills brain cells.
Juice fasting, which is when you only consume juice, can be a good choice. But again, as with water fasting, you need to be prepared. You need to have spent enough time drinking daily celery juice and lemon water, eliminating the foods that feed pathogens, lowering your fat and animal product intake and eating lots of fruits and vegetables. These steps will get your body cleansing on their own. Then, as I mentioned earlier, you can try the Liver 3:6:9 Cleanse from Liver Rescue and/or the 28-day cleanse I describe in Medical Medium. These cleanses are safe and effective and can even become your permanent way of life if you wish.
Then you may be ready for a juice fast. But take it easy—don’t jump into a long-term juice fast. It can put too much pressure on your liver. It’s also important that you don’t drink only green juices (like kale, spinach and celery) that lack carbohydrates. One reason you need to include some carbohydrates is to slow down your cleanse. And again the purpose of that is so that your liver doesn’t get forced into dumping too much poison into your bloodstream at once. Also, the fruits you would include as part of your juices contain important nutrients that will nourish your body and also support your adrenals as you cleanse.
Include at least one of the following carbohydrates in at least one juice per day: apples, cucumbers, pears, oranges and watermelon. Including these carbohydrates also protects your brain because it needs the glucose, or natural sugar, from these fruits to keep from getting injured during a fast.
Intermittent fasting is when you limit the number of hours you eat over a day, usually by waiting to eat until later in the day. I support this for certain people for a period of time in some circumstances. Some people feel like it’s not helpful to eat right away in the morning because their digestive system can’t handle it yet. In this case, I recommend people drink lemon water (with some raw honey if possible) and even celery juice if they can in the morning and then wait until maybe 11 a.m. for their first snack. Or, some people can go a little while longer if it feels right. Then later in the afternoon and in the evening they eat their meals.
This can be a helpful method for people who have an inflamed intestinal tract or hypersensitive nerves in the lining of their stomach, duodenum and small intestinal tract. For these people, any time they eat, it rubs and hurts. They may feel better if they wait half a day to eat, and it gives their digestive tract a rest. If that’s you and it feels better, you can try intermittent fasting for a while. Just remember it’s not a long-term way to eat. Rather, it’s something you may need to do for a month or for six months or so but it’s then important to return to eating frequently so you can properly care for and give your adrenals, brain, liver and the rest of the body the critical glucose they need.
You can read more about why it’s important to eat frequently in the Adrenal Fatigue article on the blog. To give your body the best support possible, consider grazing on snacks like these Adrenals snacks every two hours. Eating something every couple or few hours is especially helpful for people who have issues with their adrenals, blood sugar, nervous system or liver.
Moving Forward in Health
I highly recommend you check out Liver Rescue before doing any fasts so you can get more guidance on doing it safely. This will protect you for the long haul and help you heal. Sometimes people who have done a fast that didn’t truly serve their body in the past “hit the wall” in terms of their health and mental clarity years later because their brain runs out of glycogen storage (which an unhealthy fast dramatically accelerates). In these cases they usually don’t even know what they lost by doing the fast, and they never restored themselves afterward. Trying to “fast-track” your health with a fast usually backfires.
One other red flag to watch out for is fasting programs that include herbs and tinctures that have alcohol in them. Any kind of alcohol kills the beneficial internal bacteria and microorganisms in your gut. If a program sells products with alcohol, it’s important to avoid it.
Another piece of information that’s missing from many fasts is the importance of proper recovery. It’s so critical for your health and healing that you take the time to build yourself back up afterward. This is something I cover more in Liver Rescue as well, but one of the best ways to recover is to continue drinking a lot of straight celery juice every day. This will protect and restore your brain, liver and entire body. Take your time as you ease back into eating. Stick with fresh fruits, leafy greens and vegetables and their juices for a period until you feel you have adjusted back to consuming solid food. This could be a good time to do another round of the 28-day cleanse in Medical Medium.
I hope this information helps you to know whether fasting is right for you at this time and to make the best decision for your health.

Chemical and food sensitivities can make life incredibly difficult. All of a sudden you may find yourself reacting to one thing and then another, and another still—maybe the air freshener at the dentist’s office, or the cologne being sprayed at the department store or an ingredient in a meal you’ve always eaten without problems.
The irritation and symptoms can start to build: headaches and migraines, fatigue, dizziness, lightheadedness, insomnia, tingling and numbness, anxiety and depression, a runny nose, a tight chest, the feeling that you can’t breathe deeply or breathe properly, a funny taste in your mouth or a tingling tongue.
Chemical and food sensitivities are an extremely frustrating and difficult challenge to navigate. Science and research don’t yet know much about these sensitivities. Chronic illnesses and symptoms of almost all kinds are still a mystery. But chemical and food sensitivities can be especially frustrating. The lack of understanding from medical communities, combined with the fact that people’s reactions are often unseen to the outside world can leave sufferers feeling invalidated within an unsympathetic world.
The good news is, I can tell you where these sensitivities begin and how to heal them. It all stems from your liver. If you suffer from sensitivities you’ll learn how to heal in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease. Even if you don’t have chemical or food sensitivities at this point, you’re still being affected by toxins. We all are. You’ll still benefit from learning more about the incredible organ that is your liver and how its health, or lack thereof, contributes to hundreds of chronic illnesses and symptoms.
I have a lot of compassion for people who have sensitivities. Living with this issue means that an invisible, unpredictable threat and trigger can be around any corner or sitting in any meal.
Out in the world they never know when they’ll inhale some pesticides being sprayed at the park or find themselves driving behind a truck that’s shooting out exhaust. But it becomes a catch-22 because they also wonder if materials in their homes are causing problems: mold, off-gassing from furniture, carpet cleaning chemicals or the flame retardants in their mattress–to list just a few. On top of that, the triggers seem to move and shift, and all of a sudden that natural shampoo you’ve been using for years and the breakfast you’ve always eaten seems to be a problem too.
People’s fear starts to rise. They wonder, “What could trigger it next?” “What’s going to happen next,” “Am I going to die?” “What’s safe?” “What is happening to me?” “Do I have to live in a bubble?” It’s easy to become anxious and obsessive trying to figure out how to deal with it all. I can completely understand why.
Your Liver the Hero
Your liver is basically a big sponge with the job to collect, catalog and filter everything that comes into your body. Your body takes in what I call liver troublemakers (I explain these in detail in Liver Rescue), including toxins, in a variety of ways.
You can inhale toxins, like the chemicals in conventional perfumes or the fungicide your neighbor is spraying next door. You can eat or drink toxins, through the additives in your food, the ingredients in your medication or the chemicals in your tap water. You can also absorb toxins through your skin, like the chemicals used in conventional deodorant or the chemicals sprayed on wrinkle-free clothing. And then your body can also create toxins. For example, when you’re under stress, your adrenal glands pump out adrenaline as a protective measure, but adrenaline is abrasive and especially toxic to your brain.
Pathogens are another category of troublemakers for your liver and body. Viruses and bacteria, including many undiscovered mutated strains, are everywhere. Those viruses can make their way into your liver and find a home there. Then the pathogens feed on other toxins and in doing so they release waste byproducts that I call neurotoxins and dermatoxins, which cause problems for your nervous system and for your skin respectively. (By the way, one common virus is Epstein-Barr (EBV), which is responsible for many of the symptoms that lead people to a mistaken Lyme disease diagnosis. Learn the truth about Lyme disease in my book Medical Medium).
Your liver wants to capture as many troublemakers as possible to keep them from damaging the rest of your body, especially your heart and brain. Your liver is a selfless hero. It grabs the most dangerous toxins and locks them deep inside itself with the hope it will be able to release them safely later. The liver also works to neutralize certain troublemakers, or in other words to make them less harmful so that they can be safely eliminated and detoxified without hurting the body.
The Liver’s Working Too Much Overtime
The problem is your liver can only do so much. Since the time of the Industrial Revolution with the use of toxic heavy metals and the advent of harmful chemicals, the liver has too much on its plate. We’re born with troublemakers we’ve inherited from our past generations, and then the burden continues to grow.
To make matters worse, modern diets are full of unhealthy foods, many of which contain harmful additives, preservatives and pesticides. On top of that, people are eating too much fat—which is an extra burden to the already-overworked liver, because fat takes more effort to process. It doesn’t matter whether your fat is from the best organic, pasture-raised animal products or whether it’s from the cleanest plant-based vegan diet. The bottom line is, people are eating too much fat.
Even someone eating a low-fat diet often needs to do more to support the liver, such as drinking 16 ounces of pure celery juice every morning and eating more leafy greens, because we live in such a toxic world. I talk more about what to do to support your very-busy liver in Liver Rescue.
As the liver continues to become more and more burdened, eventually the reactions come out. People who suffer from chemical and food sensitivities often have guesses about when and why it started. They remember the day when their house was painted. Or the day they walked through their condo development while it was getting treated with pesticides. The time they ate a gluten-filled cupcake. But that’s not the whole story. These triggers were simply the last straw. They’re an indication that something has been wrong for a long time, and problems have been mounting. The sensitivity was on its way, and the final trigger got noticed when your liver couldn’t handle the burdens any longer.
Toxins are the Reality
The deeper truth is that the cause of sensitivities is chemicals! We do live in a toxic world, unfortunately. Our conventional laundry detergents, makeup, air fresheners, and perfumes—they’re all full of poisons. Even Christmas trees are sprayed with something. Even all the food on a cruise ship gets topped with chemicals to protect and preserve the meals.
People who react to the poisons we’re inundated with are living demonstrations of the truth that these chemicals are harmful. We need to minimize using them wherever possible or our health problems will only continue to mount.
Outsiders sometimes view people who have sensitivities as “crazy” or as “hypochondriacs.” That is, unless the reactions are obvious, like an anaphylactic response to eating peanuts. Ironically, research and science doesn’t have a cure to the problem they created—all they have is another “remedy,” for example you can use an EpiPen after eating that peanut.
The other unsympathetic and extremely damaging response to chemical or food sensitivities is that someone has “attracted” the problem or has “manifested” it through their thoughts, emotions or other issues. Of course it’s true that we all want to work on positive thinking and good energy and spiritual development and generating the best of what we want in life. But the idea that you have created your own illness is not only completely wrong; it’s also disrespectful and dismissive of all you’re going through. It’s especially disastrous when young people believe this theory—not only are they struggling with their physical health but now they themselves are to blame. This can totally shake a young person’s foundation and ability to cope emotionally, mentally and physically. It creates shame, isolation and dangerous pressure.
This is what happens when science and research and providers don’t have the answers for chronic illness, including for chemical and food sensitivities. But there are real causes, and real solutions. We need to find compassion for ourselves and for others who are suffering. Lives can be saved when we do.
Freedom from sensitivities takes time, and it is a more difficult detoxification process. But it is absolutely possible. I’ve helped thousands of people heal from chemical and food sensitivities over the decades. Even if you’ve become so sensitive that you can’t handle most supplements, you aren’t stuck. Note that this can often be because you’re using the wrong kind of quality of supplements. You may tolerate high quality supplements, like those on my preferred supplements page, at low doses just fine. But there are answers with food. You can heal by drinking pure celery juice on an empty stomach every morning. And by eating lots and lots of fresh fruit and leafy greens.
You can heal by following the advice in Liver Rescue. Immerse yourself in all the Medical Medium information from my books, website, Facebook and Instagram. I put out all kinds of free information because I want you to heal. I want you to become experts on your own health and know how to move forward with healing
If your nervous system is really sensitive, you may still react to certain exposures after you even heal. You’ll still need to work carefully with foods and try not to get too much exposure to triggers and toxins as you heal. Remember too that you aren’t the problem and you never were. It’s valuable to be a sensitive person. Your heightened awareness about the perils of our world makes you gifted and can help you protect yourself, others and our planet. You know the truth because your body is showing you.
Take it one day at a time. I support you.

Every single person today has a liver that needs proper care. Your liver plays a fundamental and critical role in your health and in what your health will look like in 20 years, even if you don’t suffer with any symptoms or illnesses right now or you’ve been told your liver is in good working order. There’s more to understand about your what’s really happening inside the livers of everyone today and what your liver needs from you to protect your health in the years to come.
The liver is responsible for more than 2,000 chemical functions in the body (though science and research only believe it’s responsible for about 500). This highly intelligent, special organ works so hard for you, day in and day out. But your liver needs your help in order to do its many jobs, which ultimately keep you alive. Your liver needs the right foods, herbs and supplements to cleanse, detoxify and heal. And, very importantly, you need to know what not to do so you don’t make your liver’s job even harder. That’s why I wrote Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease, so you can have the information you need to take good care of your liver and protect your health and your family’s health.
You’ll read new undiscovered information in Liver Rescue that will transform the way you think about your liver and what your body needs to recover from chronic symptoms and illnesses, as well as to prevent illnesses later in life. Because the truth is that nine out of ten people today already have a sluggish, stagnant, fatty, toxic or sick liver. And having a sluggish, fatty, overburdened liver plays a central role in almost every symptom and condition that people suffer with today. With the truth in your hands and the right nutrients and support, your liver can regain its health and work even more effectively to recover and prevent symptoms and illnesses.
How Your Liver Works For You
In order to care for the liver, it’s important to understand how it works. There’s a highway of blood called the hepatic portal vein that rushes from your gastrointestinal tract into your liver. This blood vessel brings vitamins, minerals, nutrients, hormones, oxygen, hydration and, unfortunately, troublemakers too.
I talk in great detail about what I call the “Liver Troublemakers” in Liver Rescue. They’re hundreds of different toxins, pollutants, and pathogens like pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, prescription drugs, aluminum, lead, copper, mercury, viruses, bacteria and more. These are the toxins we’re surrounded by in our modern world and that we are even born into this world with (not because of genetics but because they are passed down from generation to generation through the family line). They’re what makes us sick. They’re what cause disease and chronic illness, including the conditions believed to be autoimmune diseases (learn more about the mistaken autoimmune theory in Thyroid Healing and Liver Rescue).
The liver is a master at sorting out the good and the bad. It takes the good stuff—the nutrients and other helpful natural compounds—and puts them where they need to be used in the liver. Your liver is incredibly smart. It knows all about the compounds that are in a food as well as how to store or distribute those elements.
Take the example of an apple. This incredible piece of fruit contains a living water that’s hydrating and nourishing for your liver and your entire body. The liver can take the special living water from that apple, compress it and store it until it needs to be used at a later date. Then when your body needs those elements or you are dehydrated, your liver can reactivate and rehydrate that living water and send it out into your bloodstream. This is all undiscovered information that medical science and research are unaware of. I want you to know how truly miraculous your liver is so you can take proper care of it. I explain exactly how to do this in Liver Rescue.
The liver’s ability to orchestrate everything that comes in from that hepatic portal vein keeps you in balance, and it keeps your body functioning. It’s not known the science and research yet, but your liver also has its very own immune system to help protect itself and in doing so protect you. I have a chapter in Liver Rescue on your liver’s immune system with a full explanation of how it works for you.
Your liver also identifies the liver troublemakers I mentioned (for a full list and explanation of each, see Liver Rescue) and works to neutralize and detoxify them. Neutralizing is a process where the liver makes the toxin less harmful, so that if the toxin travels through the bloodstream and especially to the heart and brain, it won’t cause major problems.
The liver also holds onto some of the worst offenders and locks them away deep inside itself. It really doesn’t want certain toxins floating around your body and making their way to your heart or brain—these troublemakers are too dangerous. So they get stored away in deep pockets of the organ.
But we need our livers to be healthy in order to do all of this well. If the liver is too overwhelmed by toxins and poor food choices (now or in the past), and if it’s become sluggish or fatty or weak, it can’t do its job properly. And your health begins to suffer or worsen even more. Even if you don’t have any symptoms or conditions right now, it doesn’t mean they are not in the process of developing internally. As I shared before, nine out of ten people have a sluggish liver and soon enough it will be ten out of ten people for all the reasons I share in Liver Rescue, so it’s essential that everyone knows what their liver needs and how to curb and heal the symptoms and conditions that can result.
Cleaning House For a Fresh Start
It takes the right kind of cleanse to help flush out the toxins from your liver, and in doing so to lighten the liver’s load. In Liver Rescue I share the Liver Rescue 3:6:9 Cleanse, which is specifically designed to work with your liver; not against it. This Cleanse is a gentle and safe way to pull out the toxins that are burdening your liver so it can effectively eliminate existing or incoming troublemakers—viruses, bacteria, chemicals and metals—before they make you sick. You can repeat the cleanse as many times and as often as you’d like.
The Liver Rescue Morning I also share is an incredibly healing practice to bring into your life daily or as often as possible, also. Along with the different healing foods and supplements (with the suggested dosages I include in Liver Rescue) to help your liver heal and strengthen.
It’s important to know that there are many different programs, cleanses, practices, flushes, and diets out there that are popular or said to help your liver. Unfortunately, almost all of them do not help the liver or are even harmful to it. It’s vital you know the truth about what the liver really needs from you and how to safely and effectively cleanse and support it. Learn more about harmful liver flushes and other liver misunderstandings and myths in Liver Rescue.
What your liver needs to be healthy is oxygen, water, sugar and mineral salts. These elements, along with nutrients from fruits and vegetables, are what the organ craves. Interestingly, the liver can only take in the nutrients when they’re surrounded by sugar (glucose). Of course, I’m not talking about table sugar or corn syrup, I’m talking about the natural health-giving sugars in fruits, tomatoes, potatoes and squash.
People who are on no-fruit or low-carbohydrate diets are unknowingly starving their livers and doing themselves a real disservice. If a nutrient comes in but it isn’t bound by a sugar, your liver will let it roll on by. Sugar allows the liver to take in the nutrient. Sugar is the fuel that helps your liver break down fat too. This may surprise you given how popular and trendy high fat and high protein and low carb diets (whether they are plant based or animal based) are today. While these diets have some benefits in the respect that they take our processed and junk foods, these diets are still problematic. I have a whole chapter on this topic in Liver Rescue because it’s so critical to understand so you know how to take care of your health.
Your liver also needs natural sugars to keep cool. The liver is a naturally hot organ, but toxins and high protein, high fat diets make it hot in a toxic way. Glucose from fruits and carbohydrate-rich vegetables help it cool.
Your Liver’s Neighbor: The Gallbladder
The hot liver shoots a sludge of gunk, toxins, poisons and chemicals, along with cholesterol and bilirubin, into the gallbladder. The gallbladder is a naturally cooler organ, and its temperature is linked with the temperature of the liver. The hotter the liver gets, the cooler the gallbladder needs to get. When a too-hot liver leads to a very cool gallbladder, people experience symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats. These issues stem from the dynamic between the liver and the gallbladder.
When the hot gunk cools in the gallbladder, stones form. That’s how people get gallbladder stones. In Liver Rescue I talk about the foods that dissolve those stones and clear the toxins too.
Foods To Support Your Liver
Now that you know more about how the liver works, I want to share a few of the top foods, herbs and supplements that will help you cleanse, heal and take care of it. I cover many more in Liver Rescue, along with how they the help your liver and body, and also feature some delicious healing recipes that incorporate many of these special foods.
Apples provide an active living water that hydrates the liver and supports the liver’s ability to hydrate your body. Apples also starve bacteria, yeast and mold out of the intestinal tract and liver. In doing so they keep sludge out of the gallbladder. Apples can also dissolve gallstones. Eat one to three apples a day (or more) if you can.
Artichokes contain phytochemical compounds that inhibit the development of tumors and cysts in the liver. Artichokes also contain many chemical functions that help the liver neutralize toxins before they get to the brain or heart. They help the liver screen and filter your blood.
Asparagus is high in flavonoids and powerful anti-inflammatory compounds—they’re like a natural aspirin. They also expel and dislodge fat cells and other poisons. Asparagus cleanses, detoxifies and soothes the liver.
Bananas are antibacterial, anti-yeast, antifungal foods. The fructose in bananas provides a quick fuel for the liver—it’s one of the organ’s favorite food sources. Bananas also sooth the lining of the intestinal tract.
Berries are a rich medicine chest for the liver. Your liver contains a type of cell known as Kupffer cells, and wild blueberries especially contain the kinds of antioxidants those kuppfer cells need. Raspberries, blackberries and blueberries are all powerful healing foods for your liver.
Brussels sprouts are an ultimate liver cleansing food. You can eat them raw, steam them or even juice them. Brussels sprouts and other cruciferous vegetables have a special sulfur that expels poisons and pathogens from your liver.
Celery contains undiscovered subgroups of sodium that I call cluster salts. These cluster salts protect liver cell membranes. They strip the cells of viruses down and bind onto free floating poisons. Drinking sixteen ounces of pure celery juice with nothing added on an empty stomach every morning is a powerful way to cleanse your liver.
Cilantro binds onto heavy metals so you can safely eliminate them from your liver and body. Cilantro also contains phytochemical compounds that cling to other troublemakers, such as neurotoxins and dermatoxins, which end up in our livers. Cilantro is another liver cleanser.
Cranberries do many jobs for the liver. They cleanse the deep parts of the liver. The harsh fruit acid in cranberries kills pathogens. They also have a tremendous amount of vitamin C that steps the oxidation of cells.
Cucumbers are an ally for the liver. They provide a hydrating liver water just like apples. Cucumbers also cleanse the liver.
Dandelion greens trigger a squeezing action in the liver that helps it release toxins. .
Lemons and limes improve hydrochloric acid (HCL) production in the stomach. They also cleanse fatty livers and help dissolve gallstones.
Melons are an incredibly powerful cleansing food that also have the ability to hydrate the liver. It’s ideal to have melons early in the day and not after eating something heavy.
Peaches remove old deep-seated poisons, debris and putrefied food in your small intestinal tract, which helps your liver get better.
Oranges and tangerines provide a wealth of calcium and vitamin C that the liver can use since it’s combined with the glucose in the fruit.
Pitaya, which is also called dragon fruit is a liver rejuvenator. It cleanses poisons from the organ. You can often find this red-fleshed food in the freezer department.
Raw honey contains a combination of the sugars that the liver needs along with the minerals, vitamins and nutrients that restore the liver.
Spinach has mineral salts and nutrients that help the liver. It also helps the liver receive vitamin B12 better.
Tomatoes harness critical phytochemicals, micronutrients, vitamins and minerals that support the liver. The fruit acid in a tomato also helps the gallbladder eliminate some of the sludge that can sit in the bottom of the gallbladder. They also dissolve gallstones.
Wild blueberries have pigments that reverse damage to the liver.
Supplements To Support You
There’s also specific supplements that are helpful for the liver to heal, cleanse and strengthen. When it comes to supplements there’s a huge range in quality and they’re not all created equal. I have listed the brands I like on my preferred supplements page on my website to help you source the highest quality products.
Here’s a few of the supplements that support the liver with some of the ways they help. You can find a full list of them along with exactly how they help the liver in Liver Rescue. I also include suggested dosages for you to consider for many health conditions.
5-MTHF helps the liver receive B12.
Ashwagandha is good for the liver and it strengthens the adrenal glands.
Barley grass juice powder contains phytonutrients that feed an undernourished liver while allowing it to detoxify
B12 with adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin is critical for your liver and almost everyone is deficient in it. Even when blood tests show B12 levels are normal, you can still be deficient.
Burdock root is very medicinal for the liver and it purges it on a deep level. You can find burdock root in the grocery store and consider juicing it or making a tea with it.
Cat’s claw kills off pathogens and viruses that are in the liver.
CoQ10 is a great antioxidant for the liver.
Goldenseal kills pathogens, including strep
Hibiscus contains antisine compounds, which is what gives it the red color, which helps bring the liver back to life.
Lemon balm kills pathogens and bacteria. It also calms the liver and the nerves, so that your liver can relax enough to be cleansed.
Licorice root tea.
Spirulina pulls out toxic heavy metals that sit inside the liver and create a wealth of issues.
Vitamin C strengthens all levels of the liver’s personalized immune system. The liver uses vitamin C in all of its over 2,000 chemical functions.
Zinc plays a critical role in all 2,000 of the liver’s chemical functions.
In addition to bringing more of these food and supplements into your life, I also encourage you to read Liver Rescue. Consider doing the Liver Rescue 3:6:9 cleanse and Liver Rescue Mornings.

Your body has such an incredible power to heal—it just needs your assistance to make that possible. The Medical Medium 28-Day Cleanse I shared in my book Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal is a potent way to use food to support and begin healing your entire body, including the immune system, endocrine system, digestive system, cardiovascular system and nervous system.
I’ve helped people use these same principles and foods in the 28-Day Cleanse to turn people’s health around for decades. The reason this cleanse is so effective and important is because we take in all kinds of toxins and pathogens as we go through life, including toxic heavy metals, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, everyday household chemicals, viruses, bacteria and more. These harmful substances collect and cause all kinds of chronic, mysterious illnesses and symptoms.
When you clean out those toxins and pathogens from the body and support your body with the nutrients it needs, you can turn around those health problems, including fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, Lyme disease, tremors and shakes, gout, eczema and psoriasis, migraines, headaches, aches and pains, diabetes, blood sugar issues, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, brain fog, anxiety, panic attacks and depression. In Medical Medium, I outline the cleanse and share exactly how to do it and how it works, so I recommend you have it on hand for a helpful guide.
Your liver, which is the body’s detox powerhouse, takes the brunt of all the toxins we encounter in modern life. The liver works hard but it can only do so much in the face of a constant onslaught of pathogens and their byproduct, toxins, high-fat and high-protein foods (whether plant based or animal based), adrenaline and more, so over time it can become mucky, stagnant, fatty and weak. When the liver is overburdened, the entire toxic load of the body rises, causing more illness. (My book Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease provides more details about the starring role your liver plays for your health, including the hundreds of what I call Liver Troublemakers that are behind illnesses and symptoms.)
When our bodies are carrying a heavy toxic load and then we’re eating in ways that add even more of a burden, things start to really break down. But, thankfully, our bodies can heal and recover if we give them the right support. The Medical Medium 28-Day Cleanse is a powerful way to assist your body so you can return to good health and wellbeing.
Keep in mind that we are all unique individuals with a different toxic load. One person might have a high load of the streptococcus bacteria and Epstein-Barr virus with a low level of mercury while someone else has high levels of copper and low levels of Epstein-Barr virus plus a lot of pharmaceutical residue. Someone else may have an especially high level of adrenaline being released from one traumatic hardship in life after another along with the shingles virus and a lot of MSG in the brain. The varying mixes means everyone will experience different results from the 28-Day Cleanse. Some people might feel immediate relief while others might take more time. The cleanse isn’t going to work like clockwork because no two people are exactly the same. Even if you don’t see results right away, the longer you continue with the cleanse, the more results you will see in time. You don’t have to stop at 28 days, you can keep going until you see healing happening and even make it your long term lifestyle if you wish.
A Health Reboot
Whether you could just use a reboot to clean things out, strengthen your immune system, and help prevent future problems or you’ve been facing numerous chronic health issues for years, the 28-Day Cleanse can do wonders. I’ve seen people recover from multiple sclerosis by living the cleanse as their lifestyle. I’ve watched it heal the worst cases of eczema and psoriasis. And I’ve seen people who couldn’t even get out of bed turn their lives around and regain energy. That’s the power our bodies have to heal when we give them what they need, like an abundance of fruits, leafy greens and vegetables, and remove what is harmful to our bodies. It’s extraordinary.
Now even if you’re a person who can’t do the full cleanse, you can certainly study it and take the elements that work for you. Some people commit to the cleanse for one week, and often the next thing they know they’re finishing all four weeks. Set goals that work for you. And if you want to do the cleanse protocol repeatedly, or go longer than 28 days, go for it. There’s no harm in that and it can only do you good.
The full cleanse: focuses on raw fruits and vegetables; is low in fat; and eliminates processed food, dairy and animal products. To understand why these foods are eliminated, you can read Liver Rescue. Don’t be afraid of eating raw foods, by the way. They’re actually often easier to digest than cooked foods because the raw version still contains all the living enzymes that naturally help with digestion. Some people believe they can’t digest raw foods, but what is actually happening is that they feel these fibrous foods sweeping along sensitive nerves in their gut and feel discomfort. But this does not mean they are not being digested. If someone sees pieces of raw fruits or vegetables in their bowel movement, it means they have weak digestion and low bile and hydrochloric acid, but this will be the case no matter what they eat.
It’s also important not to be afraid of eating fruit, either. Fruit is the most healing, cleansing, essential food on the planet. It’s also the easiest to digest. It’s an incredibly important food for your health. If you have a fear of fruit, please read Medical Medium or listen to my radio show on Fruit Fear so you’ll understand what a gift fruit really is.
A Snapshot of the Medical Medium 28-Day Cleanse
The Medical Medium 28-Day Cleanse has helped millions of people across the globe improve their health. Again, Medical Medium gives much more detail, but here’s a snapshot of what it can look like. I hope you’ll give it a try.
A cleansing beverage before breakfast:
This can be lemon water (that is, lemon squeezed into a glass of water), straight celery juice (see the Medical Medium book for more on this miraculous drink I brought to the world that millions of people across the globe are now drinking every morning), barley grass juice powder mixed into water, cucumber juice, or coconut water with some spirulina in it.
Make a fruit smoothie, with a recipe such as three bananas, two dates, and a cup of wild blueberries along with some papaya, mango, pears or whatever else you like. Or you could do a green smoothie and include some spinach, kale, cilantro, a couple stocks of celery or a spoonful of barley grass juice powder. You could also use the Heavy Metal Detox smoothie recipe as your breakfast. The goal of this smoothie breakfast is to give your digestive tract a break so you can heal. Consider making a double batch so you can drink the smoothie again for a snack or for another meal if you’d like.
Make another fruit-based smoothie or drink the second serving of the one you made for breakfast. You have options here, and it’s important that you do not go hungry.
Make a salad with spinach, lettuce and cucumber as the base. Then add foods like papaya, grapes, oranges, grapefruit and mango, along with some orange juice or a small amount of avocado (or the dressing I share in Medical Medium). You could also choose to use a little bit guacamole with lime juice on top instead. You can add items like raw red cabbage, celery, arugula, baby kale, sprouts, scallions and raw cauliflower into your salad if you wish.
Choose some fruit, such as apples, pears, dates, celery sticks or even a spoonful of raw honey as a pickup.
The creamy raw spinach soup recipe I share in Medical Medium tastes great and will do wonders for your body. When this soup is eaten daily, I’ve seen it turn people’s health around—and especially improve skin and eye conditions—in in countless ways. This spinach soup is blended up so your body can easily digest and absorb all the amazing nutrients.
Snack on a piece of fruit, like an apple or a date.
However you work the cleanse, I want to be sure you do not go hungry. Sometimes when people are on a cleanse they end up hardly eating anything. That’s not healthy. That’s not the goal. In fact, eating to little hinders the progress you’ll make. Make sure you stock up with plenty of fruits and vegetables so you can stay satisfied and well fed during the entire cleanse.
More Ideas and Alternatives
There’s plenty of room for modifications on this cleanse. You don’t need to follow exact menus. You can swap out lunch and dinner by eating two salads. Or you can have a smoothie three times a day, eating one for lunch and dinner too. You can cycle through different salad greens, just be sure you’re eating lots of raw spinach every day (and don’t buy into the myth that raw spinach is unhealthy; on the contrary it’s a miracle food). Eating raw spinach is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
Try the spinach soup on cucumber noodles. Throw mangos, cucumber, cilantro, garlic and celery into a food processor and serve that on cucumber boats or cucumber noodles. Or, put apples, cauliflower and cabbage into a food processor and grind it up as another great detoxifying snack.
Some people get a little nervous about eating entirely raw foods. If you need to, feel free to add in a cooked option such as a steamed potato, which you could chop up and throw on a salad. Potatoes are really healing and are a great option. Another choice is to steam winter squash, zucchini, cauliflower, broccoli or asparagus and put that on your dinner salad.
A Gift For You and Your Body
As a recap, the 28-Day Cleanse is incredibly powerful. It will help you clean and clear your liver from the buildup of viruses, bacteria, toxic heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals and everyday chemicals like perfume and conventional household cleaning products. It will break down and eliminate leftovers, such as rancid fats that have been sitting in the lining of your digestive tract. It will restore your adrenals. It will rebuild and rebalance your hydrochloric acid levels so you can digest foods efficiently. And it will allow you to absorb the nutrients that all the systems in your body (especially your central nervous system) need in order to function well.
This cleanse was created to help you. It has a great history of turning lives around. Take this cleanse, like everything, one day at a time. If you can only do it for one week, do it for one week. Hang in there. Over time, you may end up doing two weeks, or even more. Just know that I’m here for you and I’m proud of you for doing something good for yourself and your loved ones.

Millions of Americans are struggling with weight gain and yet what’s really behind this pervasive issue is still unknown in conventional medical and alternative health communities. Almost exclusively, you’ll hear weight gain blamed on slow metabolism, overeating, too many carbohydrates, or a lack of exercise. These are common theories but they’re just that: theories. They aren’t the real reason there’s an epidemic of mystery weight gain across the globe.
Despite the theories and promises of trendy fad diets everywhere you look, it’s the liver that holds the answers to your questions about mystery weight gain. It is not as straightforward as burning more calories than we consume. Many times, people are following a trendy diet and exercising regularly and are still gaining weight. It’s critical to have great compassion for those who are struggling with their weight and to understand what’s really going on so we can help end the shame and judgement many overweight people experience.
The True Cause of Mystery Weight Gain
If you’re gaining weight, it means your liver is sluggish. I have a whole chapter on mystery weight gain and another chapter on sluggish liver in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease. While two other factors, the thyroid and the adrenals, can often be involved, weight gain is really about what your liver is up against.
When someone can eat all the junk food she or he wants and not gain an ounce, it’s because they have a liver that hasn’t yet hit its fat-storing or poison-storing limitation and therefore functions at a faster pace. That doesn’t mean their liver isn’t overburdened or overstressed. You could be thin and still have a liver illness developing or a liver complication that’s causing or will eventually cause symptoms.
What could be overburdening the liver you might ask? Liver Troublemakers. That’s the name I have given to the hundreds of different toxins, pathogens and pollutants we have in our livers. We have all been exposed to many of them over our lifetimes and even before we were born we inherited them in the womb because they’re passed down from generation to generation in our family lines. Even the healthiest babies are born with livers that aren’t functioning at 100% because of these Liver Troublemakers (unfortunately it’s more like 70% at most.) To discover what these troublemakers are, where they sit in the liver, how they damage the liver, how long it takes for them to leave, and how to support your body and liver to remove them, you can read Liver Rescue.
Ideally, the liver would be strong and uncompromised enough to process fats, toxins, and hormones with ease, neutralizing and getting rid of the toxins altogether while only holding on to high-quality fats and hormones that could be useful to your body later. The reality is that for most people, the liver simply has too much to do and the liver can’t process fat as well as it’s meant to, so fat cells begin to collect in it at a more rapid rate. The liver becomes so congested internally that fat builds around the outside of it, with pre-fatty and then fatty liver developing. Fat cells then begin to accumulate in the intestinal tract, and eventually, the heart and arteries get saturated. Weight starts to cling on around the waist.
This is just one side of mystery weight gain. There’s a great deal more to understand that I cover in Liver Rescue so you have a complete picture of what is happening when you’re gaining unwanted weight.
The Adrenal Connection
One of the reasons that the liver begins to breakdown is an influx of adrenaline in the bloodstream. As life get busier and more stressful, adrenaline is pumped through the body in increasing quantities. No longer is this an issue solely restricted to mid or late adulthood with the many responsibilities and stresses this time of life holds. Students are becoming burnt out earlier on in their college careers and are taking a year off or dropping out of school completely. Even medical students are choosing to forgo residencies due to increasingly high levels of stress.
The reason that stress and adrenaline are so toxic is that they cause the liver to become overburdened. Add to that the high-protein and high-fat diets that are highly popular and normal today and the liver is put into further distress. Whether you’re plant based or love animal foods, high-protein diets (which are also inherently high in fat), are problematic for the liver. No matter what the fat source is—animal protein, soy, nuts, avocados, oil—too much of it burdens the liver. The ketogenic diet is especially problematic. Why? When you eat a high-protein and high-fat diet, your adrenals flood adrenaline into your bloodstream to help your liver disperse fats. Your liver needs this help because bile, whose job it is to breakdown fats, is weakened when your liver is under stress. If your adrenals do not respond with aid, excess fat in the bloodstream can lead to stroke or heart attack. This extra adrenaline, while corrosive and damaging, is your body’s way of protecting your life.
Healing the Liver
In Liver Rescue, I dive into the many troubles plaguing the liver and the solutions available to recover its health and help the Liver Troublemakers leave. The key is consistency; supporting your liver with plenty of fruits, leafy greens, and vegetables—16 ounces of straight celery juice on an empty stomach and my Heavy Metal Detox Smoothie are two options that can help you jumpstart the process. In Liver Rescue, I share exactly how you can support your liver with specific foods and supplements (including suggested dosages.) The book includes information on how to use these foods and supplements for best results. I also offer you my Liver Rescue Morning and Liver Rescue 3.6.9 Cleanse which are life-changing ways to support and detoxify the liver. This isn’t the same liver health information you might read or hear elsewhere. It’s highly advanced and detailed information that can bring back your liver’s health and help you truly recover from dozens of symptoms and conditions.
For those who have already been applying the information I share in Liver Rescue and my other books, rescuing the liver takes time so do not be discouraged. This means that weight gain can continue for a period when you’re doing the right things because the liver was already under such distress that it needs time to adjust and heal before the weight can start to leave.
Additionally, when we have viruses, bacteria, toxic heavy metals like copper, aluminum, or mercury, and other Liver Troublemakers sitting in our livers, recovery time increases. This is due to the fact that, when our livers are inundated with fats and our bile is weakened, viruses and bacteria take advantage of this dip in our immune systems and strengthen (you can read Liver Rescue or any of my books to understand why you might have these pathogens in your liver). If you suffered from acne as a teenager, for instance, and continue to see occasional outbreaks when you are sick or around your cycle, this is because acne is caused by the strep bacteria, which continues to sit in the liver long term producing more symptoms later in life. The same is true for cold sores and HHV. Other viruses, like Epstein-Barr (which has over 60 undiscovered strains), are also rampant, biding time, and straining the liver. All of these factors plus more I discuss in Liver Rescue play a part in the condition of your liver and the symptoms and illnesses you have now or could have in the future.
Our job, then, is to take care of our livers in the way they need on a daily basis. Then you will be healing every day, even when you can’t yet see or feel it. This includes limiting fat intake, whether it’s from plant or animal sources, to give your liver a break so it can work on other important roles aside from processing fats. It also includes eating the healthy critical clean carbohydrates I discuss in detail in Liver Rescue that our livers need to replenish vital glycogen storage and heal and prevent countless conditions. It’s so important to understand how your body works and what it needs from you so you can protect yourself and your loved ones now and in the future. I highly recommend reading Liver Rescue so you can empower yourself with the truth and become an expert on what your body needs to heal and feel its best. I’m with you and I believe in you.

Watching your children suffer from various illnesses and symptoms is heartbreaking. What’s even more difficult is not getting the answers you need to help your child heal. There are many health conditions that infants and small children suffer with that remain a mystery to medical science and research, including acid reflux and conditions like jaundice and Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders (PANDAS). For moms and dads, this is an incredibly frustrating and disheartening process.
In many cases, young children’s and babies’ health symptoms and conditions are blamed on genetics or labelled autoimmune diseases. As I explain in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease, neither of these are true and both prevent true healing for children. It’s critical if you’re a parent, grandparent, or intend to become a parent in the future that you understand what is really behind common illnesses babies and children suffer with. Because without the truth, the unknown underlying causes for their symptoms will create more health problems for your children later in life. The information I share in Liver Rescue is there for you so you know what’s really going on in your child’s body and how you can help them heal.
One common misconception is that babies are born with a clean slate when it comes to their body and health. That they are born with organs like the liver fully functioning and in good working order. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case at this point on our earth. No one is born with a liver that’s operating at 100% because toxins and pathogens are passed down from generations long before us, and these toxins affect infants in utero. This is one of the reasons a baby can experience symptoms upon birth, soon after birth or in the first few years of their life. Plus, early standard medical treatments for babies can fill newborns’ livers with what I call “Liver Troublemakers”. I list hundreds of these Liver Troublemakers in Liver Rescue so you can get a full picture of why even our children’s livers are under duress today.
What this means is that the average healthy person today is born with a liver that is functioning at about 70% capacity—best-case scenario. For infants under intense stress during pregnancy, for various reasons, this percentage is lower. As we grow into adulthood, this number continues to decrease. This reduced liver function can cause bloating, acid reflux, jaundice, PANDAS, and many other conditions that pediatricians prescribe medication for without knowing or addressing the underlying problem because they aren’t aware of what’s really causing it.
There are many theories circulating in the medical community as to why babies develop acid reflux or bloating. One belief is that it’s because of the mother’s breast milk, which isn’t true. Another common theory is that a baby’s intestinal tract has not developed properly or coiled correctly, causing stress on the intestines. Another is that the intestinal tract is so soft and so pliable that sitting at a certain angle puts pressure on the duodenum. Doctors say that this intestinal stress will eventually subside, and symptoms of GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) do go away. But just because these symptoms clear does not mean that the root cause, a weak liver, has disappeared. Instead, the real cause, which I call Baby Liver, goes silent for a short while, until other conditions appear down the road. I explain this in-depth in Liver Rescue.
Moms and dads, what your pediatricians should be telling you is that your baby’s overburdened liver and gallbladder are behind acid reflux. The reason for this is that when an infant’s liver is weakened from ancestral toxins and pathogens (the Liver Troublemakers), it has to create more bile and hydrochloric acid than it’s meant to and designed to at this early stage of life. A baby’s liver is not meant to produce large levels of bile, nor is a baby’s stomach meant to produce high amounts of hydrochloric acid. Breast milk is made up mostly of sugar and water, not protein and fat. This high sugar and low protein and low fat composition requires very little bile production. (An unknown truth is that the brain is made out of glycogen and carbohydrates, not fats, which is why this sugar-water is so essential to a baby’s health!)
That said, what little bile and hydrochloric acid a baby does need to produce is still important. When a baby’s liver is weak from the start, it can create a digestive issue, because baby liver translates to bile underproduction and low hydrochloric acid. When a baby’s liver is sluggish or stagnant right from the start, bile and hydrochloric acid will diminish even more. What little fat and protein there are in breast milk, the baby will have a harder time digesting on a micro scale, resulting in those GERD-like symptoms that are a mystery to doctors.
When a child exhibits symptoms like yellow skin or yellow eyes, doctors immediately know that they are dealing with a problem in the liver. This is the one condition that medical science and research know is a liver problem. What they are not able to do, though, is connect the dots. Doctors assume that the baby’s liver cannot handle the work of creating and breaking down blood cells. In reality, the liver is trying to overcome a highly toxic load made up of those Liver Troublemakers I share in detail in Liver Rescue. In other words, the liver is sluggish, stagnant, toxic, compromised and overburdened. This is especially problematic given the over 2,000 chemical functions of the liver, over 75% of which are undiscovered by medical science and research. The toxicity and burden on the liver can set the stage for future symptoms and illnesses later in life if someone doesn’t know the truth about how to properly care for the liver and get the Liver troublemakers out safely.
In the case of PANDAS, doctors turn their attention to the bacteria streptococcus. While strep is often present in a child’s system, weakening the immune system, the real troublemakers behind PANDAS are the virus HHV-6 in combination with the toxic heavy metal mercury being present in the child’s system. Medical science and research are still unaware of the truth that viruses feed on toxic heavy metals (and other Liver Troublemakers) in the body. So in the case of PANDAS, HHV-6 is feeding on the mercury, which produces neurotoxins and internal dermatoxins that cause the symptoms associated with PANDAS such as OCD, spasms, acute attacks, and rashes. To fully understand PANDAS and how it develops, you can refer to the chapter I wrote about it in Liver Rescue.
While it can be frustrating to visit the doctor’s office and receive no real answers, it is worth bringing these issues to your pediatrician’s attention. In Liver Rescue, I discuss these conditions further, as well as the types of foods and supplements beneficial for babies and children. With these tools, you can help your children heal their livers as they grow up. You can also take the information in the book to your doctor or healthcare practitioner if you wish and find someone who will work with the information to help you and your family. I know being a parent is already such a brave and difficult job, and when your baby is sick, it becomes so much harder. There are answers for you in Liver Rescue and here so you can take this information and empower yourself and your family to heal and thrive.

Brain fog is currently a mystery to medical science and research. Its true cause is not known and in many cases it is often misdiagnosed, leaving patients without the information they need to heal. Thankfully, you can now know what really causes brain fog in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease. You no longer have to wait years for answers from medical science and research.
Even alternative health communities tend to blame brain fog on the wrong cause. They often believe it’s caused by yeast or fungus in the gut, but this isn’t true. A friend of mine told me about the electrician at his office who is suffering from terrible intestinal issues, but has no brain fog. On the other hand, there are people who eat incredibly clean diets and don’t have noticeable digestive issues, and yet they do suffer from terrible brain fog. I’ve known countless people and heard many stories of people who have experienced the very same thing over the years. The gut is not what causes brain fog. It’s also not caused by the thyroid, which is another common belief in medical communities. Nor is it a condition to be taken lightly.
Sadly, this condition can be so extreme that it causes people to lose their jobs, drop out of school, or spend days in bed when they need to be looking after their family or other responsibilities. Brain fog is not just the result of anxiety or a late night out. Fatigue, anxiety, and depression can accompany brain fog, but they are not the cause. It is so much more than that and it is time to uncover what is really going on. To properly understand the causes of brain fog and how you can your loved ones can heal from it, it’s important to read Liver Rescue.
The root causes of brain fog can be traced to both the liver and the brain. There are many different “Liver Troublemakers” that sit in our livers. This is the name I have given to hundreds of toxins, chemicals, pollutants, pathogens, foods and more that I list in Liver Rescue, including where they come from, why they are problematic, and how to cleanse them from your body. Some of these troublemakers include viruses like Epstein-Barr, excess adrenaline from being in the almost constant fight or flight mode most of us experience every day with our busy lifestyles, and toxic heavy metals such as copper, mercury, aluminum, and more.
When viruses like Epstein-Barr are present in the liver they need to sustain themselves to survive. They do this by eating substances that they like. Medical science and research have yet to discover this truth that all viruses feed. They cannot exist on their own, and what they enjoy most are certain foods we eat and toxins we often have inside us, such as toxic heavy metals, pesticides, petrochemicals, and fungicides, to name just a few. And, just like us, when a virus feeds, it also has to eliminate. When viruses eat toxins and problematic foods, they will then excrete even more toxins into your body. I call these toxins excreted by viruses dermatoxins and neurotoxins.Again, medical science and research also aren’t aware of either of these yet. If you’ve heard of the word dermatoxin before, the world understand it as an external chemical or irritant to the skin. But these dermatoxins that com from viruses are internal dermatoxins. The neurotoxins leave the liver after viruses excrete them and travel the hepatic portal vein to the heart and up to the brain. Their next stop is neurons in the brain, where they can cloud up, interfere with, and short-circuit neurotransmitters. For a complete understanding if this process and what happens to the dermatoxins, you can read about it in-depth in Liver Rescue.
In order for our brain to function properly, and for thinking to happen naturally, we need clean neurotransmitter chemicals that can pick up neuroelectrical impulses sent out through the brain. But when the neurotoxins that came from viruses in the liver reach the brain, they can sit on neurons and burn out neurotransmitter chemicals, making the neurotransmitters dirty. And when an electrical impulse travels to a dirty neurotransmitter, it dampens it and shorts it out. Neurotransmitter chemicals dirtied by neurotoxins are a recipe for brain fog. This will take at least 50 years to uncover by medical science and research. These shorted-out neurotransmitter chemicals can also trigger anxiety, depression, and other symptoms and conditions.
Additionally, there’s another cause of brain fog. When toxic heavy metals like mercury and aluminum are already present in the brain, which is the case for almost everyone to some degree, they can oxidize and create a metallic run-off that saturates your brain tissue. Again, your electrical impulses are short circuited by dirty neurotransmitters. The important thing, though, is not to worry about which type of brain fog you might be suffering from, because the truth is, most people are suffering from both types. The best thing you can do is focus on the healing foods and supplements for brain fog that I share in Liver Rescue and excluding the foods and toxins I discuss that contribute to this issue.
As I shared earlier, excess adrenaline also plays a role in brain fog. To properly understand how this works, please refer to Liver Rescue.
Detoxing Your Liver
Now that you have some of the answers for what’s really behind brain fog, you can move forward with healing. By eating a diet that consists of a abundance of fresh fruits, leafy greens and vegetables, along with avoiding the foods I discuss in Liver Rescue, you can not begin detoxifying your liver , but also offer your adrenals and brain the support they need.
There are problematic foods—like eggs and dairy products—that feed viruses and other pathogens in the liver. That includes even grass-fed milk, cheese, and butter. Gluten is another offender. Gluten is a favored food of the Epstein-Barr virus and other viruses and bacteria. And remember that the more a virus eats, the more toxins it will eliminate, which will only worsen brain fog and other symptoms.
Leafy greens, fruits, and vegetables, on the other hand, will support the liver in ridding viruses and toxic heavy metals from the body. The Medical Medium Heavy Metal Detox is very important for anyone with brain fog. It is incredibly effective at cleaning out heavy metals from the liver and brain and other toxins and chemicals too. Kale, red lettuce, butter lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, apples, peaches, plums, melons, papaya, berries, mango, and a little avocado—these are some of the foods to incorporate into your diet if you suffer with brain fog or wish to help avoid it in the future. These food helps to kill off viruses like Epstein-Barr, remove toxins from the body, detoxify and support and liver and brain, and so much more.
Straight celery juice on an empty stomach every day not only repairs neurotransmitter chemicals with its mineral salts, but also helps build new neurotransmitters in the brain. Each of these suggestions and so many more are in Liver Rescue, where you can also find my 3:6:9 Liver Rescue Cleanse, which would be very beneficial for anyone with brain fog or any symptom or condition.
If you are one of the millions of people experiencing brain fog, you now have the answers you need in your hands so you can finally move forward with understanding and heal. People with brain fog often get called lazy or stupid or dispassionate—you are none of these things. Brain fog is a very real physical symptom that can be debilitating.
Now that you understand what is really going on in your liver and in your brain, you can take the steps to heal. Keep in mind that the higher the viral load in the liver, and the more heavy metals in the brain, the worse brain fog can be. Eating the healing foods and following the principles I share in Liver Rescue will help rid these toxins from your body and rebuild neurotransmitters in your brain so you can get your health and your mental clarity back.

Gut, weight and gallbladder issues are extremely common today and often someone can be suffering from problems in all three of these areas. There’s a reason for this: these health issues are all rooted in the liver. Surprised? You may have heard many different theories about the cause of gut, gallbladder and weight problems, but it’s unlikely you’ve ever heard the liver implicated. That’s because this information hasn’t yet been discovered by medical science and research. Let’s take a closer look at what is happening in the liver to create these issues.
When the liver is weakened, overburdened and sluggish, countless symptoms and conditions can arise, including gut, weight and gallbladder issues. What happens is that over time the liver literally heats up more and more because it’s overwhelmed by pathogens, toxins, adrenaline, and too much fat in the diet. There are hundreds of what I call “Liver Troublemakers” that can burden the liver. I address these in detail in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease along with how you can bring healing to these health problems.
When the liver gets overheated, it can’t produce bile as well, so that means the bile can’t break down the fats you’re eating, whether they are healthy fats or unhealthy fats and from plant sources or animal sources. Since the bile isn’t doing its job, your hydrochloric acid (HLC) is required to do more work than it’s meant to be doing. (Science and research doesn’t know this yet, but HCL is actually made up from a combination of seven acids, not just one). HCL is how we break down protein, and it can also break down a little fat if needed. But it’s our bile that’s meant to be doing that job.
A Breach in the Gut’s Barrier
Since the bile is weakened, your gastric glands work hard to produce more HCL to take care of what the bile can’t do. But that overproduction means ultimately the HCL starts to burn out and weaken. And that’s bad news because your HCL is a first line of defense for your digestive tract.
When HCL isn’t as strong, pathogens like bacteria or viruses slip through it and can start to proliferate and grow in colonies in your gut. Also, your HCL can’t break down dietary fats as well (that’s not even supposed to be its primary job anyway), so these unprocessed fats get by and start to cling to parts of the intestinal tract and colon.
And guess what loves that fat? Everything that’s harmful to your body: bad microorganisms, fungus and bacteria, c-diff, streptococcus, staph, E. coli and so on. These pathogens grow and move into different parts of the body over time, and that leads to just about every condition under the sun. It also leads to autoimmune disease. Learn more about what’s really happening in autoimmune disease in my books Liver Rescue and Thyroid Healing, including the true undiscovered causes of hundreds of symptoms and illnesses that are not yet understood by medical science and research or have been given an inaccurate and misleading label.
These pathogens then flourish and people end up with any number of health problems and symptoms and possibly a diagnosis, for example of having small intestinal bacteria overgrowth (SIBO), which is actually from the streptococcus bacteria. Science and research doesn’t yet know that it’s streptococcus specifically that causes SIBO, and that it elevates in the gut, pours into the lymphatic system and then ends up nesting under the skin, causing acne. Streptococcus is the unknown cause of all kinds of other problems too, including urinary tract infections, candida overgrowth, sore throats, sinus pain and congestion, styes, and much more. Another example is when people are diagnosed with colitis—that’s actually an undiscovered strain of non-rashing shingles in the intestinal tract lining (there are over 30 varieties of shingles but medical science have only discovered one). It causes inflammation there in the colon. You can look in Liver Rescue for a list of diagnoses and then the steps to take to heal, including the foods to eat and supplement dosages to address each issue.
Science and research really doesn’t know a lot about the gut yet. We have surgeons who can cut things open and cut things out, but the inside of the intestinal tract is just not well understood. I share a lot of undiscovered information about the gut in Liver Rescue. I want to be sure you get the right direction and the answers you need to heal. There is so much that isn’t known by medical and health communities that it’s critical you empower yourself to become an expert on what’s really happening inside your body.
Stress is another hurdle for your health, your liver and your gut. Your adrenals pump out adrenaline when you’re under too much stress and dealing with the ups and downs of life. Waiting more than two to three hours to eat also triggers adrenaline to be released (you can read more about why this happens in Liver Rescue.) Your liver has to soak up all that adrenaline—another burden for this already overworked organ. The adrenaline also gets into the stomach, weakening the gastric glands that produce the HCL.
If you’re walking around with weak or low levels of HCL, you’re going to run into trouble with pathogens. Say you’re eating at a restaurant and the chef has active Epstein-Barr virus (as many people do). A drip of the chef’s sweat might fall onto your dish, and when you eat it, you also get that Epstein-Barr virus. If your liver is weak, your bile is weak, and then your HCL is weak, you won’t be able to fight off the virus. The virus will settle into your gut, where it proceeds to cause health problems. Or you open a door at your doctor’s office and pick up staph. It’s so easy to come across these things in everyday life, which makes it even more important to know how to protect and safeguard yourself so you are equipped to face the pathogens and stress in today’s world.
The bottom line is you want your HCL to be strong, you want your bile to be strong, you want your liver to be strong. That will stop disease from occurring in your gut, whether it’s SIBO, celiac, Crohn’s, colitis and everything else that happens in the intestinal tract—including colon cancer. It’s critical that you take care of your liver so you build up good bile and good HCL, and then everything gets stronger and healthier.
The Gallbladder Takes a Hit
The gallbladder is closely related to all of this, and to the liver’s health in particular. First, I do need to clear the record about liver stones. Learn the full truth about liver stones and other liver myths in Liver Rescue. The liver doesn’t produce stones at all (though the gallbladder does produce gallstones). For one, the liver is too hot to forge a stone. In addition, the bile ducts that come out of the liver are really narrow. A stone could never pass through those ducts—it would always get caught. Globally there would be millions of people needing surgery on their livers all the time. All this talk about liver flushes is simply not true, that’s just not how it works.
What happens is the liver is naturally a hotter organ in the body. But as it becomes increasingly toxic it gets hotter—it’s like pouring gasoline on a fire. The bilirubin and cholesterol in the liver mix with toxins like heavy metals; pesticides; everyday household chemicals, like plug-in air fresheners and conventional cleaning products; pharmaceuticals you use now, used years ago or are consuming through drinking water; smoke from cigarettes or bonfires or gas grills; fungicides or flame retardants on our clothing; alcohol; recreational drugs and much, much more.
We are actually harboring toxins and poisons that go all the way back to the Industrial Revolution—around the 1800s. The poisons from chemicals compounds and toxic heavy metals that people started using in the industrial revolution have been passed down from generation to generation. Some toxic heavy metals, such as mercury, are passed down for as many as 2,000 years.
We are born with these toxins inside of us. And then we collect more. We have all kinds of toxic ingredients that are in pharmaceuticals inside of our bodies. We have all consumed processed foods in our lifetime. We spray our lawns and parks and food with pesticides and herbicides and insecticides. These are more of the Liver Troublemakers I mentioned earlier.
All of this creates a sludge in your hot liver, and it mixes with bilirubin and cholesterol and goes up into the gallbladder. The gallbladder is naturally cooler—it has a thin lining of fluid around it that keeps it cool. As that hot sludge that came from the liver cools, it forms stones in the gallbladder. Read Liver Rescue for more details on how to heal from gallstones or gallbladder infections.
Science and research won’t discover what’s in the sludge—that it’s full of toxic heavy metals, chemicals and other poisons—for another 200 years or so. If an analysis was done on the sludge in gallbladders, it would take so much time and money and energy to sort out the different chemicals. And all the chemical companies would be held responsible—there would be major class action lawsuits about how all these poisons are getting into our bodies and causing health problems.
Many people think they’re eating healthy foods and they’re not eating processed foods and junk food, but they’re still usually on a diet which is hard for the liver. If you’re eating high protein or high fat (which almost everyone is), you’re bogging down the liver and helping pathogens to hide and grow inside the body. Whether your diet is Mediterranean or vegan or paleo or something else, and whether the fats are plant-based or from animal products, almost everyone is eating too much fat for the liver to handle.
A lot of people will begin a new diet and find that it helps them, so then they believe the new diet is the right way to eat. But the thing is most diets are somewhat helpful because they get people off the garbage—the processed foods and doughnuts and fried foods and so on. Most diets have people eating more clean foods and more whole foods. But down the road these diets aren’t going to clear people’s health conditions. The diets tend to deemphasize fruits and include too much fat, which will burden the liver and affect people’s health. Almost everyone needs to lower their fat intake and eat more fruits, leafy greens, and vegetables. My chapter on the High Fat Diet Trend in Liver Rescue covers this problematic diet in detail and how the body responds to it. Thankfully, there are so many ways you can support your liver and your body so that you can alleviate symptoms and conditions.
Behind Weight Gain
Weight gain also comes down to the liver. In truth, it means your liver is sluggish. I have a whole chapter on mystery weight gain and another chapter on sluggish liver in Liver Rescue. While two other factors, the thyroid and the adrenals, can often be involved, weight gain is really about what your liver is up against.
The Liver Troublemakers I list in Liver Rescue and mentioned earlier are what weaken the liver. There are pathogens like viruses (including undiscovered viruses) inside the liver. Then when we’re under stress it means adrenaline pumps through our bodies, and our liver has to absorb that too. Then there are the toxins we’ve inherited and that we take in through daily life. Add a high fat and high protein diet on top of that, which greatly burdens the liver, and you’re on your way to pre-fatty liver or eventually fatty liver and a sluggish, weakened liver. For the full story of how this happens and how to help your liver, you can refer to Liver Rescue.
Ideally, the liver would be strong and uncompromised enough to process fats, toxins, and hormones with ease, neutralizing and getting rid of the toxins altogether while only holding on to high-quality fats and hormones that could be useful to your body later. The reality is that for most people, the liver simply has too much to do and the liver can’t process fat as it’s meant to, so fat cells begin to collect in the liver at a more rapid rate.
The liver becomes so congested internally that fat builds around the outside of it, with pre-fatty and then fatty liver developing. Fat cells then begin to accumulate in the intestinal tract, and eventually, the heart and arteries get saturated. Weight starts to cling on around the waist. Lymph weight is also a key factor that I explain in detail in Liver Rescue.
In one way or another, weight gain is the result of a liver that’s been pushed over the edge. Sometimes the liver gets pushed too far and then it’s not for six months or even a year before the person starts to rapidly gain weight. But with time, as the diet is cleaned up and these Liver Troublemakers are released and removed, the liver will start to heal and the weight will come off.
There’s so much misinformation out there and even harmful health trends everywhere you look. It’s vital that you have these truths in your hands so you can take proper care of yourself and your loved ones.
* The best resource for gallbladder, gut and weight gain issues is Liver Rescue. I can only get at a fraction of what’s in the book in an article. I recommend studying this book so you’ll be empowered with your health and know what’s true and what’s harmful.
* Lower your fat intake. Remember, whether you’re eating plant-based fats or animal-based fats, it’s all bogging down your liver. The Liver Rescue Mornings and Liver Rescue 3.6.9 Cleanse in Liver Rescue are perfect ways to support your liver and comfortably lower your fat intake. It’s also very important to read the chapter on High Fat Diet Trends in full.
* Drink celery juice. Every morning, on an empty stomach, drink 16 ounces of pure celery juice with nothing else added. Then wait 15 minutes before eating breakfast. This will help purge troublemakers from the liver and clean up the organ, amongst many other benefits.
* Drink my heavy metal detox smoothie daily. This recipe will safely and effectively remove toxic heavy metals from your system, lightening the load for your liver and helping restore your health.
* Eat more fruit. Fruit actually helps push fats out of the liver and it has powerful healing capacities as well. Find out the specific fruits plus herbs and supplements with suggested dosages for these health issues in Liver Rescue.
Each of these steps can help move you forward. Along with the information shared in Liver Rescue, you can start to recover your health and help free yourself from suffering. Whether it’s gallbladder, gut, or weight issues you or a loved one are dealing with, think about supporting your liver. Take it one day at a time. Healing is possible.

If you’re thinking you probably don’t have a fatty liver, you might be surprised. The majority of people in this country have at least some degree of pre-fatty liver, if not a fatty liver. The liver may be in a condition that’s too early to diagnose, but it’s not too early for it to start having a negative effect on your health. When the liver starts getting fatty, it allows pathogens to prosper and prevents toxins from successfully leaving the body; fatty liver is a big problem that plays a role in a lot of health issues. I share the undiscovered truth about pre-fatty and fatty liver in great detail in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease. The health of your liver is that central to your quality of life and health now and in the future.
Over the years, once your liver starts becoming fatty, everything else starts going slowly down the drain. Your liver has a critical function in keeping you well. This incredible organ grabs toxins and then works to neutralize them and send them out of the body, completing it’s detoxification role. Or, the liver snags the toxins and buries them deep within itself to keep them from floating around in the bloodstream where they can damage other parts of the body—in particular your heart and brain.
However, when the liver starts to become fatty and can’t function as well against the barrage of toxins and pathogens we’re exposed to in modern life, your liver can’t properly protect you anymore. And that’s the beginning of all kinds of health problems. People start to have skin issues later in life, or they’re told something’s out of balance with their hormones, or they begin to have neurological disorders, or they’re diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. People find themselves going from doctor to doctor with all kinds of symptoms and diagnoses—or not—but without any real answers.
I want to help you heal and get out of this misinformation merry-go-round. You don’t have to wait decades for the answers—you can work on healing now with the truths available to you in Liver Rescue. Working to reverse fatty liver is a fundamental place to start so you can learn how to free yourself and your loved ones from chronic illness and symptoms or help prevent them in the future.
It’s all about knowing how the body works, how your blood works and how your liver works (and what’s really inside all three of them). I share undiscovered information about those processes in Liver Rescue along with what I call the “Liver Troublemakers,” which are the hundreds of toxins, pathogens and pollutants we are up against. Science and research are decades away from discovering all of this, but my information is the same as it was decades ago—because my source is the same and the way the body truly works remains the same.
Creating Thicker, Fattier Blood
Part of the reason so many of us have at least a pre-fatty liver is because as we go through life, we eat to survive. We’re under stress. We run into challenging circumstances. Pressure mounts up around us, and all of it keeps us from eating healthier foods. When we have a chronic illness on top of all that, sometimes the best we can do is just get through the day. So people end up eating a doughnut or grabbing a slice of pizza or buying a hot dog from the food truck or eating half a jar of peanut butter. We eat to survive. We eat to comfort ourselves. We eat to satisfy cravings. And over time, it all adds up. Your blood gets full of more and more fat.
What you need to know is that the more fat you have in your blood on a daily basis, whether it comes from animal foods or plant foods, the more likely you are to develop a fatty liver. When the blood has more fat in it, the blood becomes thicker. The thicker the blood, the less oxygen there is for the liver. And when the liver doesn’t have enough oxygen, it suffers and can’t do its job well.
Blood thickness is the liver’s deal breaker. It would be a miracle if you could get a blood fat test at the doctor, just like people can do a quick blood sugar test. It could take medicine forward in leaps and bounds. Because that information about the ratio of fat in the blood has everything to do with the health of the liver, and the health of the liver sets the stage for just about every chronic illness and disease, including cancer.
Not only are high blood fat levels bad for your liver, but they are also bad for the rest of your body too. When blood fat is high, anything can prosper, including pathogens like bacteria and viruses. These pathogens are the true cause of most chronic illness, including so-called autoimmune disease. See Liver Rescue for more details on what’s actually happening in autoimmune disease. The short story is your body does not attack itself and you can heal these illnesses by clearing out what’s really behind these conditions: pathogens, toxins heavy metals, radiation, and all kinds of chemicals and toxins. The real causes of chronic illnesses and symptoms are a mystery to medical communities, so it has never been more important to empower yourself with the truth and take healing into your own hands with this information.
Lately sugar has been under heat as the cause of so much illness. But what people don’t think about when they point the finger at sugar for everything, is that fat and sugar are almost always eaten together. There’s the coffee with milk and sugar. There’s the BBQ sauce with sugar that goes on the fatty pulled pork. There’s the cheese sandwich with the high fat content of the cheese and butter. And there are the cookies and pastries and cakes, all of which have fat and sugar. Or there’s the straight sugar, like a candy cane, that you eat at the end of a festive meal that had a lot of fat.
Certainly people who cut down on added and refined sugars (I’m not talking about the natural sugars in fruit—which are incredible for you) will find their health improves. However, if they don’t also start to lower the fats, they’re unfortunately still going to have health issues down the road.
The Problem with Fat
Right now a lot of people are promoting a high-fat, high-protein diet, but this is a harmful trend. Whether the fat is plant-based and comes from foods like nuts, soy and oils or whether it’s animal-based and comes from eggs, milk, cheese, or chicken—too much fat thickens the blood, ages the body, and is hard on the body and liver.
What’s happening when people are doing these diets that are high-fat, high-protein, no carbohydrate and no fruit is they’re losing a lot of water. If they’re losing weight, that’s what it is—largely water. So people think they’re losing weight effectively, but they’re really just dehydrating themselves, thickening the fat in their blood and starving the brain of the glucose it needs from fruit and carbohydrate-rich vegetables to function well.
As I mentioned earlier, the liver needs oxygen to do its job well (and the thicker the blood, the less oxygen is present). The liver also needs water. So when people do these high-fat, high-protein diets and lose water, it’s another strike against the liver. Your liver needs water to cleanse it and perform the detoxification process. It needs oxygen and water to sort out and deal with the harmful elements: viruses, bacteria, toxic heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and other toxins and chemicals.
The liver also needs oxygen and water to sort through the blood, especially thick blood, and take in the beneficial nutrients: vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals and antioxidants (if you eat lots of fruit, you’ll have lots of healthy antioxidants). Your liver helps direct the beneficial nutrients and send the glucose and glycogen to your heart and your brain. You see, your brain and central nervous system run on glucose and glycogen, not fat. These natural sugars keep the brain cool and keep it running well for the long haul. On the other hand, chronic high fat diets atrophy and shrink the brain with time.
Even someone who exercises all the time and doesn’t have a scrap of fat on their body can have thick, fatty blood and can be on their way to a fatty liver. This seemingly healthy person can have a different story going on internally, and with time it can catch up with them. That’s what’s happening with some of these athletes we hear about who are having strokes and heart attacks in their 40s and 50s. Their blood fat levels are so high that the heart has to strain far more than it should to try to pump blood and this thick blood constricts their blood vessels.
Since a majority of the country has fatty liver to some degree, we need to dive into the solutions. When the liver is cared for and treated right you can heal just about any kind of illness. I urge you to read Liver Rescue, and study its undiscovered information so you can get better and prevent future problems too.
Stomach = Not So Smart, Liver = Genius
Your stomach is actually the least intelligent organ in the body. But that’s part of how our bodies are brilliantly designed. You see, if the stomach wasn’t stupid, we’d be in trouble. That’s because throughout human history we’ve needed to be able to eat what we need to eat to survive. We don’t always have a lot of resources, but we need to be able to eat to stay alive. Our stomach is essentially just a pouch that gets marching orders from the brain. If it were an intricate tool that provided guidance or forewarning about what to eat, people might not get the calories they needed to stay alive. The stomach’s dull role gives us a better chance at surviving life on this planet. Don’t mistake this for meaning that the functions the stomach performs are stupid. That couldn’t be further from the truth. The stomach and everything that happens inside it is miraculous and still mostly unknown to science and research.
The liver, on the other hand, is truly genius. It is so smart, it knows if you eat a cheeseburger followed by chocolate cake every year on your birthday. It will document and record that so it can be ready every 365 days to process that meal. Your liver knows if you do Friday night pizza every week, and it tries to get ready and produce the bile needed to digest that cheese and fat and oil.
This is actually one reason people get confused and sometimes think that vegetables bother them. If your liver is preparing bile to process the Friday night pizza and then you switch one week to a big salad with lots of fresh vegetables, it’s a surprise to your liver so the digestion can be a little off. Over time, of course, as you switch to a healthier diet, your liver adjusts accordingly and becomes even healthier and more effective in all its jobs.
Time for Healing
The bottom line is we’ve got to take care of our liver. When we treat our livers right, they can protect us from pretty much every health issue out there. So dig into Liver Rescue, and follow these tips to get started right away:
* Lower your fat intake. Whether it’s paleo, vegan or anything in between, it’s important to lower the fats. You may even want to try eating fat-free for a while if you want to turn your health around quickly. I’ve seen people with Lyme disease and multiple sclerosis (MS) get out of bed by cutting fat and eatings lots of leafy greens and fruits.
* If you’re eating animal products, reduce your intake to once every other day at most. If you’re eating lots of nuts, oils, seeds, or avocados, try reducing them by at least 50% and omitting oil altogether.
* Eat more fruit. Fruit is bursting with antioxidants, which prevent damage from oxidation and harmful elements we take in. The antioxidants in fruit will help clean out the toxins from your blood and increase the amount of oxygen in your bloodstream and in your liver. The natural sugars in fruit will also help your brain and central nervous system run well. But fruit does a lot more than just provide antioxidants. In truth, it is the number one most essential food for health and healing. Check out Liver Rescue to find out more about how different fruits and vegetables can help you recover your health.
* Stay hydrated. Eating fruit and drinking herbal tea, water with lemon or lime and coconut water will give your liver the water it needs to do its job.
* Drink celery juice. Every morning on an empty stomach, drink 16 ounces of straight celery juice. Then wait 15 minutes before eating breakfast. Celery juice is an incredible medicinal tonic that will do wonders for your liver and your health.
I know there’s a lot of misinformation out there, and it’s confusing and difficult to know what’s right. But please know that you don’t have to suffer anymore. I’m sharing this information with you to help you and your loved ones turn your health around and finally heal from the symptoms and conditions that you may be experiencing. It’s your birthright to feel well and live the life you deserve.

If you deal with eczema, psoriasis, acne or other skin problems, you know how frustrating and debilitating these conditions can be and how difficult it can be to find solutions.
One big reason these skin conditions are so tricky is that there are actually more than 100 varieties of eczema and psoriasis, though the medical world doesn’t know this yet. And the truth is, many other skin conditions are actually just different versions of eczema and psoriasis.
Another reason skin issues are so difficult is medical communities don’t know what causes these conditions. I have respect for doctors and dermatologists who are doing their best to help, but until the root of the problem is known, it can’t be fully addressed and lasting healing cannot happen. Read on and I’ll share the true source of these problems as well as the solutions. This is all new information that I share in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease to give you the opportunity to help your skin—and your body—heal deeply and completely. It’s important to read Liver Rescue for a full explanation and understanding of how to help yourself heal.
The True Cause
Eczema, psoriasis and acne have everything to do with what’s going on in the liver. All skin conditions that aren’t injuries actually stem from the liver. Your liver is so important, and it works so hard for you—more than you can possibly imagine and more than medical science and research are aware. For example, the liver performs over 2000 life-saving chemical functions but only a fraction of these have been discovered. If you suffer from a skin condition of any kind, you definitely want to read Liver Rescue. It gives you the full truth about the cause of various skin conditions and tells you exactly how you can move forward with healing.
Let’s start with a little more information about the liver, which is a miraculous and amazing organ. There are basically three main layers of the liver, or three depths. There’s the dense core deep inside the big lobe, there’s a sub-surface area and then there’s the surface or “skin” of the liver. All three layers can hold pathogens and toxins—and it’s these pathogens and toxins in the liver that are the real cause of skin conditions. What type of skin condition you have simply depends on the types and amount of these pathogens and toxins you have.
Three things have to be present in the liver for eczema and psoriasis to occur. First, there has to be a toxic heavy metal inside the liver. Second, there has to be a pathogen—specifically a virus. And third, the liver has to have a certain combination of the right heavy metals and pathogens in order to cause eczema or psoriasis.
Now here’s the deal: different combinations of toxins and pathogens cause different varieties of eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions. That’s why skin issues manifest so differently in different people and there are over 100 varieties of eczema alone (which hasn’t yet been discovered.) The condition can come and go for some people, but it might stick around just about forever for others. Sometimes it’s confined to just one part of the body, so only the hands or only the legs and knees are affected. It might be patchy or rough or cracked or look like a constellation, depending on the person. It may occur in early childhood, or in the teenage years, or when you’re middle aged, or only when you’re elderly. All these differences are because the “recipe” of toxins and bugs lead to a different outcome and because there are so many varieties of eczema and psoriasis.
How Skin Conditions Develop
Now you know that certain pathogens and toxins in the liver cause skin conditions, but you might be wondering where they came from.
First of all, science and research doesn’t know yet about how many bugs—viruses and bacteria—are present in the liver. The study of viruses (virology) is severely underfunded these days—though it used to receive more attention in the past. People can literally enter the world with viruses already inside their liver that have been passed on as early as conception and during the baby’s development in the womb from their family line. Babies can suffer with eczema from such a young age that eczema is considered to be genetic. Putting the blame for chronic illnesses on genes is a great mistake that I address in my book Thyroid Healing. Eczema, psoriasis, acne and other skin issues are not genetic. It is the pathogens and toxins inherited from the family line that sets someone up to have the same illness that their parents or ancestors did—not their DNA.
Now everybody has some toxic heavy metals in their liver, but copper in particular almost always has to be present to cause eczema and psoriasis. Mercury too can be the toxic heavy metal behind certain kinds of rashes. (Note that science and research don’t yet have any way to detect that these metals are present in the liver). Other toxins that can contribute to skin rashes include pesticides, herbicides, solvents, petroleum products, antibiotics, and other pharmaceuticals inside our livers.
Irritation and Inflammation on the Skin
Medical communities don’t yet know that viruses actually feed on those toxic heavy metals, and as they do, they release and excrete what I call a dermatoxin. This is not the external dermatoxin you might have heard of, such as when a chemical irritates the skin. This is an internally produced dermatoxin. When the liver releases dermatoxins, they move out of the liver and into the blood stream through the hepatic portal vein (the main vein from the liver). The hepatic portal vein brings the dermatoxins to the heart via the blood where they’re circulated around the rest of the body. Your body tries to protect you by getting those poisons out, so it eliminates the dermatoxins by pushing them out through the skin.
The skin is one route for your body to eliminate toxins, just like sweating or going to the bathroom—they are all routes for our body to eliminate toxins, to detoxify. It’s good that those dermatoxins are released because when they instead continually circulate through the bloodstream, they can cause damage to organs like your heart and brain. Pushing the dermatoxins through the skin is your body’s masterful way of protecting your internal organs. Unfortunately, as those dermatoxins exit through the skin, your skin takes the hit. It gets irritated and inflamed, and you experience the miserable and often debilitating symptoms of eczema, psoriasis and other skin conditions. To fully understand this process and how eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, and other skin conditions develop and can be healed, it’s best to read the comprehensive explanation in Liver Rescue.
As challenging as skin conditions are, it’s nice to know that they actually show up because your liver is working hard to eliminate the toxins. Unfortunately, this truth is completely opposite of the standard belief in the medical world. The prevailing theory is that these skin conditions are autoimmune diseases, meaning that your immune system is attacking your own tissue. This is simply not true. Your body is loyal to you and always wants to help you heal. If you read Thyroid Healing you’ll learn more about what’s actually happening with “autoimmune disease.”
When people develop really severe cases of eczema and psoriasis, it may be because they have an especially high viral load, or they have an extra high level of copper and/or mercury. Extreme cases always mean the person has a sluggish liver also. The liver is an incredibly amazing workhorse, but if it’s overloaded, its filter essentially becomes clogged and the organ becomes weakened and less effective. When that happens, the blood becomes thick and dirty with a plethora of pathogens and toxins, and the dermatoxin becomes trapped in the bloodstream and lymphatic system and gets stuck under the skin, unable to exit the body. In these situations the dermatoxins bother the skin even more, triggering severe eczema and psoriasis. Again, I highly recommend you read Liver Rescue, because a healthy liver and clean blood are critical for just about every health condition and symptom out there.
More on Viruses
You might be wondering what viruses cause these problems. Epstein-Barr virus is the most prevalent, and certain varieties of Epstein-Barr are usually the cause of eczema and psoriasis. There are actually more than 60 varieties of Epstein-Barr, a truth which is still undiscovered and unknown in medical communities, and you can learn more about the enormous amount of ways its affecting people’s health today in Thyroid Healing. Sometimes the culprit is the shingles virus (of which there are also dozens of undiscovered varieties, many of which don’t produce a rash,) and some other viruses can also learn to feed off copper or mercury to create skin conditions. It’s not difficult to pick up a virus—as easy as trying a sip of someone else’s drink, sharing a kiss, or using a public toilet. And as I’ve already mentioned, we can be born with pathogens from our family line. Thankfully there’s much we can do to kill off pathogens so there’s nothing to be afraid of, but it is important to be aware so you can protect yourself and your loved ones.
More on Toxins and Heavy Metals
There are many ways people accumulate heavy metals too. One is that its passed on from generation to generation, unfortunately. Take DDT. It’s high in the toxic heavy metal copper, and DDT was used prolifically for decades. People sprayed it on the farms, sprayed it in the parks, sprayed in on their gardens and even sprinkled it on their food if you can imagine that. Really! It was sold as a nutritional supplement, and most households had it sitting there in the pantry alongside the salt and pepper and oats and flour. “How about a little DDT to sprinkle on your oatmeal or on top of your scrambled eggs?!” DDT was used so much for so long that it continues to be in our environment, and again, it is passed down at conception and in the womb for generations.
We also take in toxins and copper through modern pesticides and common chemicals as well as seemingly innocent everyday household features like copper pipes. There’s many more ways we are exposed to toxic heavy metals so focusing on effectively and safely removing heavy metals is important for everyone today.
Other Skin Conditions
Other skin conditions have a similar root cause in that they stem from an issue in the liver but each has their own unique factors that cause it. To find out the specific factors that cause other mysterious skin conditions such a seborrhoeic dermatitis, classic dermatitis, actinic keratosis, rosacea, vitiligo, age spots, and more, it’s important to read Liver Rescue.
Antibiotics have been offered for acne for a long time, but the reason why antibiotics have worked is that acne is caused by streptococcus. Medical science and research don’t know this specific bacteria is the true cause of acne. When the practice of using antibiotics for acne started decades ago, it improved acne by killing off the strep, but it also bred stronger strains of strep. Today we deal with those strengthened, mutated strains.
Medical communities also believe there’s a hormonal connection with acne. And there is a connection, but hormones actually have nothing to do with the cause. The reason acne has a connection with various hormonal cycles—adolescence and menstruation, for instance—is that the immune system is strained during those times. The body is focusing its energy on other tasks, like growing, ovulating or menstruating. The lowered immunity gives pathogens the perfect opportunity to strike.
Like other skin conditions, acne has its roots in the liver too. Strep can be stored in the liver and it can hide there and stay dormant until it finds a good opportunity—like when the body is under stress or the immune system is lowered. Then the strep can move into the lymph and into the derma layer of the skin. Your body then creates sebum oil to try and protect itself. The industry mistakenly thinks that oil is a culprit. And yes, it’s true that some topical solutions that clean up the oil can help a bit, but that’s just because cleaning up the excess oil is one thing that helps the appearance of the skin. The oil certainly isn’t the cause.
In Liver Rescue, I share how to kill off strep, and that’s important not just for acne but for many other health conditions too, such as SIBO and other digestive issues, UTIs, styes, thrush, candida, and more.
What You Can Do
It’s possible to heal your skin conditions by starving viruses and bacteria and removing the toxic heavy metals and other toxins that cause these conditions. You can do that through the food and supplements I share in detail in Liver Rescue. The 3:6:9 Liver Rescue Cleanse would be especially helpful. Note that different pathogens have an appetite for different foods, but taking the following steps, along with what you learn in Liver Rescue, will get you started with true healing.
* Eliminate eggs and dairy, including milk, cheese, butter, yogurt and kefir.
* Lower the fat in your diet, because that gives the liver a break so its own immune system can literally rebuild. This means limiting how much animal protein you eat while healing because all animal protein is also high in fat. To understand how fat and protein g hand in hand, read the chapter on this in Liver Rescue. The same goes for plant foods: lower the fat in your diet by reducing or eliminating oils, nuts, soy, seeds, and avocado.
* Significantly increase the amount of fruits, leafy greens and vegetables you eat. For recipe ideas and undiscovered healing information on the foods best for skin conditions, refer to Liver Rescue.
* Drink pure celery juice every morning on an empty stomach.
* Consider the supplements for each of these skin conditions that I list in Liver Rescue. I include dosages you can work with also in the book. Helpful supplements to start with right away include:
B12 with adenosylcobalamin and methylcobalamin
Vitamin C as Ester C or Liposomal C
More specific supplements for each of the conditions covered are listed in the book.
